About Me

Hi, I am Wajma Omer,

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and hold an MSc. in Mental Health Psychology from the University of Liverpool. I am the founder of Care to Listen Psychotherapy and have over 18 years’ experience in providing psychotherapy and mental health support to adults, youth, and families, to address issues such as emotional difficulties, stress management, self-esteem, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, relationship challenges, parenting, and family conflict.  

Establishing therapeutic alliance with my clients is the foundation of my psychotherapy work. I am a strong advocate for cultural competency, and my approach is client-centered, collaborative, and evidence-based. I prioritize working collaboratively with my clients to explore solutions and coping strategies that can help them on their healing journey.

I am in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

My Services

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I use a client-centered approach to support individuals in navigating through their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

COUPLES THERAPY

I support couples in improving the quality of their romantic partnership by addressing conflicts, enhancing communication, and fostering emotional connection.

FAMILY THERAPY

I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help families improve communication, resolve conflict, and strengthen their relationships.

Treatment Modalities

My psychotherapy framework includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), elements of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed Therapy. 

In addition to my private practice, I have worked at an accredited children’s mental health agency in Toronto for over 14 years providing individual and family therapy as well as psycho-educational support groups for parents and youth.

Insurance

Psychotherapy is covered by most insurance providers. Please check with your insurance provider for details of your benefits. 

I do not bill insurance companies directly, however you will be provided with an invoice that you can submit for reimbursement.
